The building is located in Europa Point, the southernmost point of Gibraltar, in an iconic location surrounded by the Ibrahim-al-Ibrahim Mosque, Our Lady of Europe and the Lighthouse.

We took inspiration from the tunnels and caves in the rock to create recessed “pockets”, clad in stone to provide a contrast using a natural material. Lush vegetation grows from the integrated planters of the recessed voids adopting further inspiration from the natural backdrop.

Instead of creating a large building, we split it in order to create two cubes resembling two big rocks that sit on the landscape at different angles.

The development was completed in March 2019, in time to provide temporary accommodation for athletes for the Gibraltar 2019 Island Games.
